- Valley of Fire is the closest state park to Las Vegas and was officially designated a state park in 1935, making it Nevada's first state park and largest state park.

- The Name of the Valley of Fire comes from the red color of the sandstone formations and the distinct beauty of the Mojave Desert. Throughout the park are petrified trees and 3,000-year-old ancient petroglyphs depicting ancient trees and early human figures.
